Increased corporate failures and enhanced regulatory requirements have heightened corporate awareness about the value and importance of making sure these key activities are effectively designed, integrated and managed.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst the GRC approach has been in existence for over a decade, a recent survey from the Open Compliance and Ethics Group (OCEG) suggests that only 13% of respondents were able to claim they had harmonised or successfully achieved this level of integration. However, 93% of respondents that had successfully integrated these areas reported meeting or exceeding their original expectations.<\/p>\n<p>Given the current relevance and potential value of a GRC-based approach to these critical activities, the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) is sponsoring the creation of a GRC Special Interest Group (SIG). The purpose of this new SIG is to explore what GRC really is and how it can be used to help us address the challenges of the current economic climate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The inaugural meeting of the SIG has now been scheduled for 4 October 2012 at the London offices of IRM.\u00a0 In addition, a web-conference link may be available for those unable to attend in person.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So if you are interested in joining the SIG, contact Robert Toogood at Chaordic Solutions via email on robert_toogood@chaordicsolutions.co.uk.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GRC is a term used to describe an integrated approach to activities related to governance, risk management and compliance.
